CDV Guaguas and Hebar poised for #CLVolleyM debut
News
CDV Guaguas LAS PALMAS of Spain make their historic #CLVolleyM debut on Tuesday night against another rookie in the competition, reigning Bulgarian champions Hebar PAZARDZHIK, which nevertheless can count on a budget that is three times higher than that of the Spanish champions. The local authorities have allowed the organisers to sell up to 80% of the seats available at Centro Insular de Deportes in Las Palmas. All attending fans, however, are due to submit a certificate confirming they are fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, they have recovered from the disease or a negative PCR test taken not earlier than 48 hours before the match.
The hosts recently claimed the Spanish Super Cup against Fenie Energía Volleyball Palma (3-0) and started their journey in the Super League with a comprehensive victory against Rotogal Boiro (3-0).
The Bulgarians coached by Camillo Placi make their debut in the group stage of the CEV Champions League Volley as well – as the reigning national champions following their success last season against Neftohimik BURGAS, to whom they recently lost the Super Cup (0-3). Their roster includes many internationally known players such as Bulgarian Volleyball icons Todor Aleksiev, Teodor Salparov, Viktor Yosifov and Teodor Todorov – as well as Italian outside hitter Jacopo Massari and Macedonian setter Gjorgi Gjorgiev.
Sergio Miguel Camarero“Hebar is a very strong team, with a budget of € 2.5 million. It is a complicated round for us, but we are going to try to win with the help of our fans and to achieve a good result that would allow us to go to the second leg in Bulgaria with options to progress to the next round.”
