Second round of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 – Men started last night and brought us three exciting matches and possibly a switch in teams with the first chance to advance in the next round of the competition.

It was the night of the away teams in the men’s Champions League with all matches ending in favour of the visitors who can now be considered favourites going into the second leg of the ties where they will be playing in front of their home crowds.

One of the most balanced matches took place at the Vassil Levski Arena in Pazardjik where Hebar Pazardzhik hosted the Belarusian champions from Shakhtior Soligorsk. It was a great display of back and forth volleyball that ended in a 5-set thriller won by the visitors (2-3: 22 - 25, 25 - 15, 25 - 14, 19 - 25, 9 - 15) with Canadian Bradley Gunter, top scorer with 21 points, in the spotlight despite his team failing to get the win.

Elsewhere on the night, CEZ Karlovarsko and Olympiacos Piraeus managed dominating performances and vital wins away from home that will give them a major confidence boost in their efforts to qualify into Round 3.

Mladost Zagreb vs CEZ Karlovarsko 1-3 (25-21, 17-25, 24-26, 8-25)

Rieker UJS Komarno vs Olympiacos Piraeus 1-3 (25-22, 38-40, 21-25, 22-25)
