CEV Champions League Volley 2023 | Men
Middle blocker Marko Mert Matic, who is a member of the Turkish national team as well, moved to Halkbank in the summer, and he has high ambitions for this season.
“Many new players have joined our team and we are currently trying to get used to each other. If each player was to work hard to improve at least by 1% compared to where we were back in early August, we would improve by 14 percent as a collective. Our technical team is already making the necessary adjustments for this to happen,” Matic says.
As with every season, the ambition at Halkbank is to emerge victorious from every single competition that the team is due to contest.
Marko Mert Matic“We want to win each trophy that is at stake in domestic competitions. Moreover, we dream of qualifying to the Super Final in the Champions League. We have the potential, the ambition, and the strength to achieve these dreams. Halkbank, as a family, always supports us in our endeavours."
Halkbank does not only focus on competition, but it is also a community that is sensitive to environmental problems such as climate change. “As a club, we feel our responsibility towards the environment. We want to set a good example and thanks to the many people who understand the magnitude of the problem, I am confident that we will live in a greener world without any further major catastrophes,” he comments. “Apart from this, I wish all teams that will compete in the European Cups a successful and especially injury-free season.”
Halkbank ANKARA will start their Champions League journey on November 10 with an away match against Polish rookie Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE in Pool B – which also includes BERLIN Recycling Volleys (GER) and the winner of the third-round matches between Hebar PAZARDZHIK (BUL) and Mladost ZAGREB (CRO).
