Asterix Avo Beveren won the Champions League Volley 2nd Round, hosted by Alba Blaj Arena, after winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-19) in the last match of the tournament, against the champions of Romania, Vollei Alba Blaj. Both teams qualified for Champions League Volley 4th Round.
Qualified since the second day of the tournament, the two teams had different approaches in the match that decided the winner of the Champions League Volley 2nd Round. Asterix Avo Beveren used the standard team, while Volei Alba Blaj rested four starters.
Stevan Ljubičic"It was a tough tournament, but we qualified, which was the most important thing. We don't have much time for recovery, a difficult match in the domestic championship awaits us on Monday. On Wednesday we had a very difficult match, against Mladost Zagreb, we played 5 sets and I wanted to give some players a rest, I mean here first of all Nneka Onyejeke and Drussyla Costa, in view of the championship match. There was a bit of pressure from the tournament organized in Blaj, but we achieved our goal".
head coach of Volei Alba Blaj
Kris Vansnick"It's a fantastic result for us, we've won all the games and I didn't expect us to do that, before the tournament. I think today the team from Blaj was very tired after the match against Mladost Zagreb. We have prepared very well for this tournament, qualifying for the Champions League 4th Round was our first goal of the season and now we are happy to play in the competition of the best teams in Europe. We are really looking forward to playing in the Champions League"
