Corona Brasov during the Early Rounds of the Champions League

First teams to enjoy home court advantage are Hypo Tirol Innsbruck from Austria and  CSM Corona Brasov from Romania, two teams that have faired very well when playing in front of their home crowd this season, winning their matches or doing enough to secure qualification.

On the other side of the net, Olympiacos Piraeus has put out dominant performances throughout their four matches so far, their only loss coming away from home in Round 2, having secured qualification. They will now travel to Romania hoping to do enough to ensure they have the upper hand before hosting Corona Brasov in Greece next week.

Hypo's opponent, Orion Stars Doetinchem from The Netherlands started their season with a defeat then narrowly clenching qualification via a Golden Set on home court in Round 1. That result proved to be a huge confidence boost for the Dutch who went on to win both their Round 2 matches without losing a set against Crvena Zvezda Beograd from Serbia.

Looking ahead, the winner from the Orion vs Hypo matchup will be heading to Pool C where they will be facing Allianz Milano (ITA), Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie (POL) and Knack Roeselare (BEL), while Corona Brasov or Olympiacos will be heading to Pool B to face Fenerbahce Medicana Istanbul (TUR), Helios Grizzlys Giesen (GER) and Mint Vero Volley Monza (ITA).
