C.S.O. Voluntari and FC Porto secure spot in the main round of CEV Champions League

In a commanding performance today, C.S.O. Voluntari 2005 and FC PORTO clinched their qualification to the main round of the CEV Champions League.

After a 3:0 victory in the second leg of their qualification round against Rabotnicki Skopje, C.S.O. Voluntari secured their spot in the Champions League. After securing a 3:0 win in the first leg last week, the Romanian side displayed their dominance once again with a flawless performance, winning by a combined score of 6:0 across both matches.

Today's game was a one-sided affair, with Voluntari maintaining control from the outset. The final set scores were 25-11, 25-16, and 25-15, demonstrating their superiority in all aspects of the game. With their powerful attack, strong defensive plays and consistent teamwork, Voluntari showed why they deserve a place among Europe's elite volleyball teams.

The Romanian team’s stellar performances in both legs were key to their smooth passage into the main round of the competition. Having dispatched Rabotnicki Skopje with back-to-back clean sheets, C.S.O. Voluntari 2005 will now look ahead to the next phase of the tournament, where they will face even tougher opposition.

FC PORTO has also secured their place in the main round of the CEV Champions League after a hard-fought 2-3 victory over Hidramar GRAN CANARIA in the second leg of the qualification stage. Despite a spirited effort from the Spanish side, Porto’s overall strength saw them prevail with a total score of 6-2 across both legs.

In today’s match, Gran Canaria pushed Porto to the limit in a tense five-set battle. The first set went to the home team, Gran Canaria, 25-22, giving them a glimmer of hope for a comeback. However, Porto responded quickly, taking the second set 23-25 to even the match. Gran Canaria regained the lead with a 25-21 win in the third set, but Porto’s resilience came through as they fought back to take the fourth set 18-25 and force a decisive fifth set.

The final set was a nail-biting affair, with both teams trading points. Ultimately, Porto held their nerve to clinch the set 14-16, sealing the match 2-3 and confirming their place in the Champions League’s main round.

Porto’s consistent performance across both legs, including their dominant 0-3 win in the first match, was enough to ensure their passage through to the next stage. With a total score of 2-6 in the qualification tie, the Portuguese club will now prepare for the main round of the most prestigious competition.
