After a 3:0 victory in the second leg of their qualification round against Rabotnicki Skopje, C.S.O. Voluntari secured their spot in the Champions League. In today’s match, Gran Canaria pushed Porto to the limit in a tense five-set battle. The first set went to the home team, Gran Canaria, 25-22, giving them a glimmer of hope for a comeback. Gran Canaria regained the lead with a 25-21 win in the third set, but Porto’s resilience came through as they fought back to take the fourth set 18-25 and force a decisive fifth set.
The final set was a nail-biting affair, with both teams trading points. Ultimately, Porto held their nerve to clinch the set 14-16, sealing the match 2-3 and confirming their place in the Champions League’s main round.
Porto’s consistent performance across both legs, including their dominant 0-3 win in the first match, was enough to ensure their passage through to the next stage.
