End of the #CLVolleyM pool stage: who made it to the quarters and who is going to the play-offs

Another thrilling group stage of Europe’s top club competition - the CEV Champions League Volley 2025  Men - has come to an end this Wednesday evening. 

As many as 10 thrilling games entertained the Volleyball fans across the continent, who were eagerly waiting to know which teams will make it to the next phases of the competition.

The Polish and the Italian teams didn’t disappoint, as these were the ones who qualified directly to the quarters. 

With the finals standings of the group stage, it is now known who continues their journey towards the trophy.

Road to the Final 2025

Following the current formula of the competition, all pool winners proceed ahead directly to the quarters. 

PGE Projekt WARSZAWA (first in Pool A), Mint Vero Volley MONZA (first in Pool B), Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE (first in Pool C), Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA (first in Pool D) and last year’s silver medallists of JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel (first in Pool E) will be getting ready for the quarter-finals, skipping the play-offs phase.

The three Polish teams will be facing teams coming from the play-offs, while the fourth ranked and the fifth ranked pool winners (Mint Vero Volley MONZA and Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA) will face off each other in the quarter.

BERLIN Recycling Volleys (second in Pool A), Olympiacos PIRAEUS (second in Pool B), Allianz MILANO (second in Pool C), Halkbank ANKARA (second in Pool D) and SVG LÜNEBURG (second in Pool E) also saved their chances of continuing ahead as they make it to the play-offs.

The newcomers to the competition - the French SAINT-NAZAIRE VB Atlantique, also will play in the play-offs phase as the best third-placed side. 

The intrigue in the play-offs will be even higher, as they will feature a German derby between BR Volleys and SVG Lüneburg.

The last day of play in the group phase was highlighted by high-class Volleyball, as all the teams knew that each set matters.

Pool A

PGE Projekt WARSZAWA did their job right against BERLIN Recycling Volleys, winning at 3-1.

‘I'm not necessarily dissatisfied despite the defeat, because we played a better game than the one in Warsaw.The fact that we're now up against Lüneburg is, of course, quite something. I think it's a good sign for German Volleyball that two teams are in the play-off round.”

ACH Volley LJUBLJANA finished their participation in the 2025 edition of the competition on a positive note, winning 3-0 over Greenyard MAASEIK, which allows them to move to the other European Cups tournaments.

"I think we showed an excellent fight on the court today. At times, there were quite a few mistakes in our game, but I have to commend the team for their dedication from the first to the last point. There was also some nervousness, as the importance of the match was very high. In the end, the victory is what counts, and with it, our continued journey in European competitions, which we are already looking forward to."

Pool B

Mint Vero Volley MONZA outclassed Helios Grizzlys GIESEN at 3-1. 

"The game went very well: at the beginning we struggled a bit, but then we recovered great. It's my first time as MVP, and it was amazing; I thank the team that supports me and all the fans. I am very happy with this result, I still can't believe it!".

In the other game of the group, in the Balkan derby of the day, Fenerbahçe Medicana ISTANBUL and Olympiacos PIRAEUS delivered a great spectacle in five sets, won by the Greek. 

Pool C

Knack Roeselare claimed a straight sets win over Hypo Tirol Innsbruck, allowing them to continue ahead to the #CEVCupM.

“We are really happy that we won this game. It was a perfect match for me after my injury and for the team. This is my first year in the CEV Champions League competition, and I am enjoying every minute of it. The next step is the CEV Cup. I am looking forward to it.”

Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE outclassed Allianz Milano at 3-0. 

“Today, both teams were great on the serve. In the first set, Milano served very well, they didn’t make mistakes. Both teams took a risk, there was no light game. For sure, we are happy because of the direct advance to the quarter-final, we avoid playing additional matches.”

Pool D

Three teams moving ahead from Pool D, meant the battle on the court was a tough on the volleyball court in this group.

Sir Sicoma Monini PERUGIA and HalkbanK Ankara battled it out in five sets, won by the Turkish, as both teams continue ahead.

The French Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique prevailed at 3-0 over Jihostroj ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE, and qualify for a very first time in their history to the play-offs.

Pool E

CHAUMONT VB 52 and Levski Sofia had a direct clash for a ticket to the European Cups. The French proved better, winning at 3-0, taking a sweet revenge from the Bulgarians for the 2-3 loss in Bulgaria earlier in the competition.

2024 silver medallists of Jastrzebski Wegiel shut out SVG Lüneburg at 3-0.

“We are really satisfied. We suffered in reception, but we played as a team, and we managed to win some hard situations together. I am happy about my performance and the team performance - it is great to play with them. We have high expectations for CLVolleyM, we are getting ready for the quarters.”
