Numia Vero Volley MILANO (ITA) v VakifBank ISTANBUL (TUR)
3–1(25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-19)

Numia Vero Volley Milano had a tough start in the Champions League with a loss in Turkey. In the final match of Pool C, they had a chance for redemption. Playing at home in front of 4,000 fans at the Palalido, Milano showed their strength and outplayed VakifBank Istanbul. After four hard-fought sets, Milano won 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-19). It was a night of triumph and persistence, leaving both players and fans with lasting memories.

In the first set, Numia Vero Volley Milano came out strong, with their setter Alessia Orro leading the way. She delivered precise sets to Paola Egonu and Nika Daalderop, catching VakifBank Istanbul off guard. Despite a solid effort from Kiera Van Ryk, Milano took the set 25-21.

In the second set, VakifBank turned things around by capitalizing on Milano’s mistakes, making it difficult for them to stay ahead. The score evened out, and they won 25-16.

The third set saw Milano regain control, thanks to Myriam Fatime Sylla’s impressive play both offensively and defensively. Milano took an early lead and maintained it, winning 25-22.

Milano’s effective serving put VakifBank Istanbul on the back foot, forcing them to struggle with their defense. Paola Egonu’s powerful spikes kept the pressure on, and Milano used their momentum to close out the set and secure the match with a 25-19 win.

We aimed for a full win to secure first place in the group, but we are still satisfied to have shown that we are in a period of growth. VakifBank deserved to win the Pool, and we will now focus on the Round of 16. It’s a pity we had a dip in the second set tonight, but overall, we are pleased with the response and how we managed the match as a whole.
