CEV Champions League Volley 2025 | Women
Over the last weeks, since the teams participating in the Final Four were known, fans all over the world were able to vote in the All-Star team polls for the CEV Champions League Women and tens of thousands of them have taken the opportunity to support their favourite players.
Eight players were nominated for each position – one setter, one opposite, one libero and two outside hitters and two middle blockers, as well as one coach – with the fans deciding the winner in each category with their votes, being able to vote for three players in each category.
After a 21-point performance in the final against Scandicci, Conegliano’s Isabelle Haak was named the MVP of the competition for the second time in a row, adding to her impressive resume.
All the members of the All Star team, including the coach, were part of the Final Four in Istanbul, with three players coming from Numia Vero Volley Milano, four from A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano and the coach from VakifBank Istanbul.
Two of the players included in this All Star Team also made it in the best team of the CEV Champions League Women last season. Both come from Conegliano, but last season, Gabi Guimaraes, one of the opposite hitters, was representing VakifBank Istanbul. The other one, libero Monica De Gennaro, had previously won the competition twice with Conegliano, in 2021 and 2024.
For the libero position, De Gennaro received 9.554 votes, with Scandicci’s Brenda Castillo coming second, with 9.174 votes, and Milano’s Juliette Gelin finishing third, with 5.878 votes.
A three-time winner of the MVP title in the CEV Champions League Women, Paola Egonu was selected as the All-Star opposite this season, scoring 136 points in 10 matches this season before the last day of the Final Four.
She received 9.510 votes, ahead of Isabelle Haak (8.792 votes) and Ekaterina Antropova (7.390 votes).
Her teammate, Alessia Orro, was also named the All-Star setter of the season, continuing her excellent run of form, which saw her selected for the All-Star team at the CEV EuroVolley Women in 2021 and at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Orro was one of the key reasons Milano made the Final Four, with a 45.83% efficiency throughout the season.
Orro received 10.215 votes, being followed by Conegliano’s Joanna Wolosz (9.208 votes) and Maja Ognjenovic (7.547 votes).
Both outside hitters came from A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano, as Gabi Guimaraes and Zhu Ting were voted in the All-Star team by the fans, as well as one of the two middle blockers, Italian star, Marina Lubian.
Ting and Guimaraes were the top picks for the outside hitter position, with 8.992 votes and 7.298 votes respectively, leading by a big margin ahead of Monika Fedusio (5.226 votes) and Fatoumatta Sillah (5.166 votes).
The second middle blocker in the All-Star team is Hena Kurtagic, who had a fantastic maiden season in the CEV Champions League Women for Numia Vero Volley Milano, clearly being one of the reasons which saw the Italian side make it to the Final Four.
For the middle blockers, Lubian (8.287 votes) and Kurtagic (8.114 votes) had a small margin over Scandicci’s Ana Carolina da Silva (7.797 votes).
Finally, the All-Star coach this season is VakifBank’s Giovanni Guidetti. With a side which has undergone a huge transformation, Guidetti made an outstanding job, qualifying for the Final Four in Istanbul, after six wins and two losses.
The battle for the coaching position was the toughest one, as Guidetti got 8.719 votes, only 55 more than Conegliano’s Daniele Santarelli, with the podium closed by Stefano Lavarini, with 7.729 votes.
