JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel advanced to the Champions League final tournament in spectacular fashion, crushing Olympiakos Piraeus 3-0 in the second leg of the quarterfinals. The Polish team will now face Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the semifinals in Łódź (May 16–18).
A Strong Start and First Set
The match opened with a powerful attack from Łukasz Kaczmarek, but the Greeks quickly responded, keeping the score tight. The turning point came at 15:13 when a block by Timothée Carle and an error by Alen Pajenk put JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel ahead. A sharp serve from Benjamin Toniutti created problems for the opponents, and Tomasz Fornal finished off the counterattack (22:19). The Greek champions tried to fight back, but Kaczmarek sealed the set – 25:21.
Second Set: Serving Power
JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel started the second set just as strongly (3:0), but an ace from Atanasijević helped Olympiakos close the gap. The Polish side quickly regained control – Kaczmarek delivered a pinpoint serve, while Anton Brehme dominated at the net (15:13). Two aces from Pajenk briefly put the Greeks ahead, but a block from Brehme and opponent errors restored the advantage for JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel (20:17). Once again, Kaczmarek finished the set in style – 25:21.
Final Set: A Commanding Victory
An even start (2:2) quickly turned into JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel taking the lead, thanks to Kaczmarek’s consistency (8:6). Brehme and Carle were relentless in attack, while a precise serve from Huber widened the gap (16:12). Olympiakos attempted a comeback, but two decisive blocks from Huber crushed their hopes (22:17). Kaczmarek delivered the final blow – 25:19.
