CEV Champions League Volley 2025 | Men
The second matchday of the 4th round of the CEV Champions League Men is upon us, so we are getting back into the groove with the CEV Champions League Men Fantasy, after the first round saw a fairly successful performance from our team.
The first-of-its-kind experience for CEV, gives fans the opportunity to become the coach of their own team across the men’s and women’s European premium competitions. Fans can pick a team of twelve players with specific assigned positions inside a dedicated team budget of 100 million euros.
Haven’t you already signed in and chose your team? Don’t worry, we got you covered.
So, the rules are quite simple and can be found here. To start, you must select a squad of 12 players with an initial budget of 100 million fantasy euros. The initial squad selection must consist of: three outside hitters, three middle blockers, two setters, two liberos and two opposites. You must select 7 players from your squad of 12 players to form your starting roster for each game week.
Of course, the risk of having a player not featuring on the court is high, so you will also have five reserves in the team, who can come on, provided the stars are not playing. We have learnt and adapted and now we get ready to our second draft in the CEV Champions League Men Fantasy.
KEY STARS:
Mirza Lagumdzija (€9m): In their maiden match of the season in the European premium competition, Halkbank Ankara conceded a 2:3 loss against St. Nazaire VB Atlantique, which saw three players score between 68 and 69 points. Lagumdzija had 17 points in the match, but also four errors. Now, the Turkish side does not afford any mistake and with Marek Sotola and Lagumdzija starring, they are favoured for a clear win against Czech side Ceske Budejovice.
Norbert Huber (€12m): The Polish star was the highest-scoring middle blocker in the first round, with 58 points in Jastrzebski Węgiel’s 3:0 win over Levski Sofia. Now, the Polish side, a true powerhouse, will face Chaumont and will be favoured once again, with Huber aiming to play a big part again. Huber scored 13 points in the first match, with six winning spikes and five blocks, and another good performance expected from him propels the Polish player into our fantasy team.
Oleh Plotnytskyi (€13m): We are trying to play the fixture here, as Perugia travel to St. Nazaire VB Atlantique, the team which proved to be a dark horse, but their experience is clearly as not as high as the Italian side. Plotnytskyi was the seventh best scorer in the first round, with 58 points, but was the Italian’s side top scorer, with 14 points. A natural born scorer in his own, Plotnytskyi should lead the line once again, as Perugia aim to make it two out of two.
KEY DIFFERENTIAL
Mitar Tzourits (€6.5m): An old saying states that the winning team does not change. We selected Olympiacos’ middle blocker in the first round and he delivered 55 points, the third best number of points for his position. Tzourits had five blocks and five spikes, totalling 12 points on his way to becoming the most influential player of Olympiacos in the 2:3 loss against Mint Vero Volley Monza in the first round. Last season, he averaged 1.27 blocks per set, the largest one in the competition, having 14 blocks in 11 sets played.
