The top clubs in Europe will be once again holding their breath in anticipation of the results of the Drawing of Lots for the upcoming season of the world’s biggest club competition, the CEV Champions League Volley.

In the men’s competition, CEV have confirmed that 20 teams will enter the 4th round of the European premium competition, with 18 teams having fixed places, while the other two spots are reserved for the winners of the 3rd round of the competition.

The Drawing of Lots will take place on Tuesday, 15 July, in Luxembourg, at 12:00 CEST.

Four Polish teams will line up at the start, with one Polish sid  participating in last season’s Final Four, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, entering the fray. PGE Projekt Warszawa, reigning CEV Challenge Cup winners, Bogdanka LUK Lublin, and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów are also at the start.

Reigning champions Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia will be one of the three Italian teams already making their way to retain their trophy, joining two other Italian powerhouses – Trentino Itas, the winners of the 2023/24 season, and Cucine Lube Civitanova.

Three teams from Türkiye – last season’s Final Four participant Halkbank Ankara plus Ziraat Bank Ankara and Galatasaray Istanbul will also be at the start.

Last season’s surprise package, SVG Lüneburg, and Berling Recycling Volleys will be the two German representatives in the next season of the CEV Champions League Men, with two Belgian sides – Knack Roeselare and Volley Haasrode Leuven – also in the mix.

VK Lvi Praha from Czechia, Montpellier HSC VB from France and Sporting CP Lisboa will also be featuring in the next season of the European premium competition.

Halkbank Ankara, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów and Montpellier HSC VB are the three recipients of the wildcards available for the men’s competition, as the CEV Board of Administration opted to strike a balance to ensure highly competitive matches, while taking into account the marketability of the CEV Champions League Volley across Europe and even further beyond, so the market potential of the applicants as well as of their respective home countries played a primary role as well in coming to a well-informed decision.

The full line-up will be decided after the end of the 3rd round, when two other teams from the preliminary rounds will make it to the 4th round.
