The CEV Champions League delivered thrilling action today, with Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique and Jastrzębski Wegiel securing hard-fought victories on the road. Both matches were characterized by high-level performances, tactical adjustments, and standout contributions from the MVPs.

Jihostroj České Budějovice vs. Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique

Saint-Nazaire VB Atlantique pulled off an impressive win against the Czech side Jihostroj České Budějovice, demonstrating poise and precision throughout the match.

The opening set saw both teams start aggressively, with neither side able to build a significant lead. Jihostroj relied heavily on their blocking and serving game, but Saint-Nazaire’s well-organized attacks kept them in the match. A few crucial errors from Jihostroj in the closing stages allowed Saint-Nazaire to edge out a 25-23 win, setting the tone for what would follow.

In the second set, Saint-Nazaire’s defense and quick transitions were key. The French team capitalized on their opponent's inconsistent passing and kept up the pressure with strategic serves. Despite a late push from Jihostroj, Saint-Nazaire sealed the set 25-21.

The hosts came out with renewed energy in the third set, showcasing their best volleyball. Improved service pressure and better execution at the net gave Jihostroj a well-earned 25-18 victory.  Saint-Nazaire regrouped quickly, focusing on minimizing errors and tightening their block defense. Jordan Canham, the eventual MVP, led the charge, finishing with 21 points. His consistent attacking and clever shot placement helped Saint-Nazaire dominate the fourth set, cruising to a 25-17 win to close out the match.

SVG Lüneburg vs. Jastrzębski Wegiel

Jastrzębski Wegiel, one of the tournament favorites, faced a spirited challenge from Germany’s SVG Lüneburg but ultimately emerged victorious in four sets. Lüneburg came out firing, catching Jastrzębski off guard with their aggressive serving and quick attacks. The German side maintained a narrow lead throughout most of the set, and despite a late rally from Jastrzębski, Lüneburg held their nerve to take it 26-24.

After regrouping, Jastrzębski found their rhythm in the second set. The Polish side's improved service game forced Lüneburg into uncomfortable positions, leading to a 25-19 win.

The third set mirrored the second, with Jastrzębski continuing to dictate the pace. Their tactical adjustments, particularly in defensive positioning, paid off. Jastrzębski’s superior depth and experience became evident as they cruised to another 25-19 set victory.

Lüneburg refused to go down without a fight in the fourth set, keeping it close with strong play from their outside hitters. Jastrzębski managed to close the set by 3-1 and Thomasz Fornal was named the MVP of the match, who scored 11 points in this match.
