Scandicci and Fenerbahce with third wins in #CLVolleyW

Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI (ITA) and Fenerbahce Medicana ISTANBUL (TUR) emerged both victorious in their respective #CLVolleyW matches on Wednesday, collecting important wins in Leg 3 of Europe's top club competition.

Savino Del Bene SCANDICCI continue on the winning path at the #CLVolleyW as on Wednesday, they outplayed the Polish of BKS Bostik ZGO BIELSKO-BIAŁA. The players of head coach Marco Gaspari seized the win in three sets (25-22, 25-22, 25-23), topping the charts in Pool E with three victories in as many games. 

As many as 12 kill blocks (to five by their opponents) made the difference for the Italian ladies. They also recorded more points on their opponents errors (17 to 14). The two teams performed equally from the serving line, each finishing with three aces. The hosts of Poland finished slightly better in attacking (43 to 41 winning spikes).

Named MVP of the game, Ekaterina Antropova was above all, recording 28 points (77% exc. in attack), including six kill blocks. 

For BKS Bostik ZGO BIELSKO-BIAŁA, Julita Pjasecka was the top scorer with 15 points (57% exc. in attack).

“It was a very impotant game for us. We knew this team is challenging, playing in their gym helps, supported by their fans. We are happy to finish in three sets. It wasn't an easy game, there are no easy game at CLVolley.”

“I am very happy, because we brought home three important points. For us the objective was very clear, but at the beginning of the match we didn't start very well. However, after coming back from 20-15 in the first set, we gained some confidence. In the end it is a very important victory. From tomorrow,we will start thinking about the match against Chieri and our next matches. In the next two weeks, we have four very important games for our progress in the Italian championship.”

“We were always in the game. Scandicci are a high-level team, they play the end of the sets in a calm and confident manner. Personally, I am not satisfied, I have to keep working. It is hard to stop Antropova, she is one of the best players in the world. We will try to learn from this evening’s challenge. We showed good level of defence. I am happy to see the gym full, supporting us.”

CLVW: Neptunes NANTES (FRA) 0-3 Fenerbahce Medicana ISTANBUL (TUR)

Fenerbahce did their job right as well, taking the three points from their visit in France. The team coached by Marco Fenoglio secured a win at 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) and remain unbeaten in Pool D with three victories out of three matches. 

The guest from Istanbul seized all their chances on their opponents’ errors - 21, while letting 13 on their own. Stronger performance on serving also helped the Turkish ladies on their path to the victory as they finished with six aces (to three). On the other hand, the hosts of Neptunes recorded one more point from attacking (39 t0 38 winning spikes).

Setter Bojana Drca of Fenerbahce grabbed the MVP award, while her teammates Magdalena Stysiak and Ana Cristina De Souza contributed the most for the win - each scoring 12 points.

Haylie Bennett and Laura Jansen of Neptunes became top scorers, with 13 points each. 

“We hoped for this outcome. I am happy that we won 3-0, because every set is important. They pushed us with serve, in the third set especially, but I am happy that we managed to emerge victorious.”
