Visually impaired fans enjoy immersive experience at ANKARA Zeren Spor Kulübü’s home match

In collaboration with VolleyVoice, earlier this week ANKARA Zeren Spor Kulübü hosted a number of visually impaired Volleyball fans in the stands for their first #CLVolleyW home match in history – which resulted in a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Poland’s ŁKS Commercecon ŁÓDŹ. 

The action was run in conjunction with the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), which is organised annually on December 3 under the umbrella of the United Nations to promote the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities and raise awareness about the benefits of their inclusion in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life. 

ANKARA Zeren Spor Kulübü have introduced the motto ‘Shared Passion, Accessible Volleyball for All’. With this in mind, their partnership with VolleyVoice allows fans with visual impairments to experience the energy and atmosphere of the game live, thereby highlighting the club’s commitment to creating accessible and inclusive environments for everyone.  During the match, a live audio description provided by a professional commentator is delivered to the fans, thus sharing the rhythm of the game, describing the players’ actions, and even conveying the atmosphere inside the arena in real time, so that they can truly experience and enjoy the match to the fullest.

VolleyVoice is a fully volunteer-based initiative that aims to make Volleyball matches accessible for visually impaired fans. By providing live audio description in the stands, they offer an immersive match experience that allows visually impaired sports lovers to feel every detail and excitement on the court, thereby making sure that Volleyball truly is a sport for all to enjoy!
