Istanbul, Turkey, August 24, 2020. Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, which is still affecting the whole world, Eczacibasi VitrA ISTANBUL decided to organise their annual season opening and press conference event in a different way. The media had to send in their questions beforehand, with these answered by members of the elite Turkish team on videos published on the official social media channels of the club.

"This year we have built a squad which would strengthen our young and dynamic structure even more."

President Faruk Eczacıbaşı

In his address to media and fans, President Faruk Eczacıbaşı said, “Due to the pandemic we could not see the press in person this season. However, we did not want this to restrain our communication and decided to hold our season opening on social media.”

Faruk Eczacıbaşı also shared his thoughts about the coming season: “This year we have built a squad which would strengthen our young and dynamic structure even more. We have added domestic and foreign players to our roster. Moreover, we have had young players who have returned to our club after gaining experience with other teams. This season our team captains will be our dear Tijana Boskovic and Simge Aköz. I wish all teams much health and good luck this season.”

While Team Manager Nalan Ural and head coach Marco Motta answered some questions about the technical aspects of the season’s preparations, athletes Simge Aköz, Tijana Boskovic, Hande Baladın, Fatma Yıldırım and Yasemin Güveli shared their impressions on the team and their own careers.
