PGE Skra Belchatow found the perfect way for a rebound after losing their first match in Pool A in straight sets. The Polish team hammered out an emphatic 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-16) shutout of Belgium’s Lindemans Aalst in Kedzierzyn-Kozle on Wednesday.

At 2-1 was the last time Lindemans had the lead in the first set. Skra broke away with four in a row and cruised on to extend their lead to a convincing 25-16 win, with Karol Klos putting away the closing point.

The second set was just as one-sided as the first one. If Skra’s offensive line could get any more efficient than in the first set, it did. Middle blocker Norbert Huber hammered the winner for 25-17.

After Tuesday’s disappointing straight-set loss to compatriots Grupa Azoty Kedzierzyn-Kozle, the squad from Belchatow were clearly not going to miss this opportunity to bounce back with a straight-set win on Wednesday. Not slowing down even the tiniest bit, they kept the pressure throughout the third set and with the help of as many as five aces reached the victory at a comfortable 25-16.

Dusan Petkovic was the top scorer of the match with 13 points for Skra. USA’s Taylor Sander made his official debut for the club from Belchatow after recovering from injury.
