Overview

Grupa Azoty Chemik POLICE and Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA could not imagine a better start of the tournament in Novara. Both teams have a perfect record with two straight-set victories each. Tonight’s match will decide who finishes the week on top of the Pool E table. Who will be able to continue their winning streak? Aside from the perfect score in this week’s tournament, NOVARA is looking to get 12th consecutive Champions League win at home.
The match will be quite special for two players in particular, Jovana Brakocevic Canzian and Malwina Smarzek, as they are the only two from this encounter to have worn both clubs' jerseys in their career; Malwina Smarzek defended Police's colours for two seasons in 2016-2018 period, while Jovana Brakocevic Canzian played in Novara last season (2019-2020).

We are aware that this was just a first step, now we have to finish our job in February when we will be playing the second tournament in Poland. We know that three more clashes are waiting for us and we will be ready”.

Martyna Grajber, outside spiker of Grupa Azoty Chemik POLICE: “I am very proud of my team, I think we’ve had great performances and scored 7 points which is something very important for us. We can regret a bit what happened tonight, but really we should be very proud of how we played and of what we did. We are thankful to the organisation of the event, which was great, and to CEV who found a way to let us play this wonderful competition”.
