    Article

VC Dukla Liberec made it's debut in the Champions League, while Dinamo Moscow has started it's 16th CL consecutive journey. Dinamo Moscow had a discouraging start in Russian Superleague this season, but since the appointment of Konstantin Ushakov as a new head coach the team's play is improving game by game and enjoyed a perfect start to the new season in Europe's elite competition earning emphatic straight-set win. The hosts controlled the situation on the court from a very beginning. In the opening set their captain Nataliya Goncharova was unstoppable scoring as many as 9 points with 80% of success in spike. Dukla's head coach Libor Galik was switching setters during the match to make team play more diversitive, but it didn't help much. Dinamo was confident in the lead throughout the match, and that encouraged coach Ushakov to rotate with his squad. He used 11 players in this match, but it didn't affect the quality of Dinamo's play. The third set turned out into the most competitive part, as it was Dukla leading 17-15, but the head coach of Dianmo called time-out that visible helped his team to regain control and close the game in three sets. “It was a good game for us, I think. This result is important. We should improve many things in our game, but we won and we started with a good win. Our block helped a lot. Also service and good attack helped us today. We prepared for Dukla. It's a good team with good defence, they keep the ball. They don’t make mistakes much, and this is difficult for Dukla’s opponent”.

    Elitsa Vasileva
    outside hitter Dinamo

“We were excited with this game. It's the first time for many of us to play Champions League matches. So its incredible that we are here and we can enjoy this competititon. We enjoy volleyball in this tournament, this atmosphere for us is very good. We want to fight for every ball and maybe games. Dinamo’s players are more experienced. They have more hard matches in the Russian championship. We were nervous and we made more mistakes”.

    Veronika Dostalova
    libero of Dukla Liberec
