    1. This is the first CEV Champions League match in "Centrum" hall in DĄBROWA GÓRNICZA since 13/01/2005 (Polska Energa SOSNOWIEC lost 0-3 to Lokomotiv BELGOROD).

    2. Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE team captain, Dawid KONARSKI, played in Halkbank's derby rival, Ziraat Bankasi ANKARA in the 2017-18 season. His teammates were Volkan DÖNE and Yunus Emre TAYAZ.

    3. Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE played against another team from Ankara, Spor Toto, in CEV Challenge Cup 2020 - their first (and only until now) season in European Cups. They won 3-0 in "Centrum" hall in DĄBROWA GÓRNICZA but lost the Golden Set away and were eliminated in the 8th Finals of the competition.

    4. Only one player of Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE remembers a previous European Cups stint. It is Marcin WALIŃSKI, who came back to Zawiercie before this season after playing two years in different PlusLiga teams (namely Ślepsk Malow Suwałki and Cuprum Lubin).

    5. For Michał WINIARSKI it would be the debut in CEV Champions League as a head coach. However, he had a very successful career in this competition as a player (victory in 2009 with TRENTINO Volley as well as silver and bronze medals with PGE Skra BEŁCHATÓW in 2012 and 2010 respectively). Then he achieved the Semi-Finals with Skra as an assistant coach too in 2019.

    The teams of Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE and Halkbank ANKARA met in the Champions League match in Pool B and it was a real treat. In the end, it was Polish Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE who claimed their first victory (23-25, 26-24, 25-21, 25-15).

    The first set started off with some insecurities present within both teams. Halkbank soon enough had a small lead (2-6) but didn’t manage to keep it afloat. The Polish team got back in the match and equalized it with amazing defense and the support of their spectacular fans. Ankara got back up with their kill blocks (they had four in the first set). And although some net faults were recorded then, that didn’t stop the team from Ankara to take the first set (23-25).

    The second set was a cat-and-mouse type of game where both teams were within the three points difference. Ankara called for two time-outs to improve their game, but this set was a little bit on the side of the Polish team that had a whole arena and 2750 fans cheering for them. And with that, they did manage to overcome their opponents and get their first set (26-24).

    As their team just won the second set, the arena was completely on fire which definitely helped Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE and they’ve transferred the positive energy into the third set. With three aces and two kill blocks, Halkbank ANKARA tried to overcome the Polish guys but they were held on the wings of their amazing fans and nothing could stop them. This set also went in the favor of the Polish guys with 25-21.

    In the fourth, and last set, it looked like the team from Ankara lost their strength and had already given up. In the end, the Polish team had a ten points advantage and three kill blocks so it was safe to say that they handled this set perfectly (25-15).
