CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women
Salvagni, ‘Coach of the Year 2021’ in France, helped ASPTT MULHOUSE VB claim a historic treble, by sweeping the French Cup, Supercup and French national league titles earlier this year. He will stay with the French team for three more seasons. The Italian coach, who turned 50 on November 11, moved to Mulhouse in 2019 after signing a three-year contract that would have expired at the end of this season. His goal was to bring the national league title and the French Cup to Mulhouse. He achieved this goal one year ahead of time.
In two seasons, François Salvagni can boast of a very impressive record. Without counting the outbreak of the pandemic and the premature end of the championship in 2020, he could have won his first French title as early as 2020 before the historic treble of this year. Today, after the departure of leaders Héléna Cazaute (to Chieri/Italy), Christina Bauer (to Perugia/Italy), Laetitia Moma-Bassoko (to Seoul/Korea) and Madison Bugg (to Rome/Italy), he is successfully rebuilding his team. After completion of nine rounds in the Women's A League, ASPTT MULHOUSE sit in 2nd place, behind Volero LE CANNET, with eight victories to their name, and remain in contention to defend their title.
A winner of the CEV Cup with Chateau d’Ax URBINO (in 2011) and the Challenge Cup with C.S.M. BUCURESTI (in 2016), Salvagni is aware of the mammoth task that awaits his team against Volleyball powerhouses such as Vero Volley MONZA and VakifBank ISTANBUL. He is nevertheless very ambitious:
“ASPTT MULHOUSE will not limit itself to playing the Champions League just for the sake of playing, but we will play every game to win it!”
