A product of Zaksa, Polish star Kamil Semeniuk heavily contributed to their success in the past few years, including winning two consecutive CEV Champions League Volley SuperFinals. Now, however, Kamil returns to Kędzierzyn-Koźle with his new team, Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia looking to stop his former team from reaching a third SuperFinal in a row.

The reigning champions from Zaksa overcame what has become a traditional opponent in the quarterfinals, Trentino Itas, a side that they had beaten in the previous two Superfinals, and now they have to push themselves once again to overcome a very competitive Italian team that they have faced only once before and lost.

In 2017/18, these teams contested the bronze medal match. In Kazan, the Italians (as Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA) won in five sets. Five years later, Zaksa has a chance of staying on track to become only the third team in the competition to win three successive Champions League titles, after Trentino and Zenit Kazan managed that feat n the past decade.

“I'm very happy, I haven't been home for 6 months. But obviously I'm here with my teammates not to visit the city, but to play volleyball and win. I know it won't be easy, but we will do our best."

Perugia, on the other side, is a team well accustomed to reaching the semifinals of the competition, having done so in six out of the last seven seasons, the only exception being the 2020 edition where the competition had to be stopped before the semifinals stage.

This season, they are one of only two teams to have won all their matches in the Champions League, giving their fans hope that this might be the year where they finally lift the most coveted trophy in world club volleyball.
