Joanna Wolosz is a volleyball legend. The 34-year-old has been representing Poland since 2010, and has been winning trophies at club level, both domestically and internationally for a decade. During her career, Wolosz has won two Polish league titles, five Italian league titles and 13 domestic cups. Add that to her 2021 CEV Women’s Champions League title and you have one of the greatest collections of silverware ever seen in the sport.

The Polish setter has been playing for A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano since 2017 and has helped them become a force both domestically and internationally. Since joining Imoco, the club has claimed five Serie A1 titles in the last six seasons, and are looking to claim their sixth title in seven seasons when they take on Savino Del Bene Scandicci in the play-off final.

So far in the CEV Champions League this season, Wolosz has been ever-present for A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano, and her well-rounded game has shown up in the stat sheets. Through ten games, she has eight winning spikes, eight kill blocks and seven aces, demonstrating how her fingerprints are all over every match. During the semi-final against Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, she surpassed 450 career points in the competition. Her performances this season have seen her earn a nomination for the CEV Champions League All-Star Team, and voting for that is open now.

In the CEV Champions League, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano are chasing their second-ever title, having claimed their first title in the 2020/21 season. That first victory will have been well celebrated, as the Italian side have lost the joint-most CEV Champions League SuperFinals, winning in just one of their four appearances so far.

This year, however, they look unstoppable. Imoco have won all ten of their CEV Champions League matches this season, with only their semi-final first leg against Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul going to a fifth set. In fact, the last team to win the CEV Champions League title without losing a single match all season were A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano themselves back in 2020/21.

Alongside Wolosz, A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano have three other players who contested that 2020/21 SuperFinal, and have also acquired Isabelle Haak, who played against them in Verona.

In September 2023, Wolosz had a huge moment on the international stage, when she helped Poland qualify for the Olympic Games for the first time since 2008 and just the fourth time since volleyball was introduced as a sport in 1964. In a qualification decider, Poland came back from a set down to defeat Italy and book their spot in the tournament.

Wolosz has been one of Poland’s top performers for more than a decade, and will be looking to finish her season on a high and fill out her trophy cabinet even more with the Serie A1 Women’s Final and the CEV Women’s Champions League SuperFinal still to play.
