Turan aim to secure their place in the #CLVolleyW group stage

Azerbaijan’s Turan TOVUZ are preparing for their fourth match in the elite CEV Champions League Volley 2027 as they welcome Bulgaria’s Maritza PLOVDIV for the second leg of Round 3 scheduled for Tuesday, November 10. The Azerbaijani champions have enjoyed an impressive European campaign so far. In the previous qualification round, Turan overcame Croatia’s Mladost ZAGREB, winning both encounters to secure their place in Round 3. They continued their strong performance in the 1st leg against Maritza PLOVDIV, recording a convincing 3-0 away victory in Bulgaria.

With a significant advantage ahead of the return fixture, Turan will now look to maintain their  momentum in front of their home supporters in Tovuz and take the final step towards qualification for the main phase of the CEV Champions League. Turan delivered a dominant performance in Plovdiv, securing a straight-sets victory against Maritza. The result puts the Azerbaijani side in a strong position heading into Tuesday’s encounter. Nevertheless, Turan will be aware that another focused and disciplined performance will be required to complete the job.

Ziya Rajabov, head coach of Turan TOVUZ: “In the first match against Maritza in Plovdiv, our team delivered a strong performance and secured a 3-0 victory. Our players executed their tasks well in both attack and defence. In particular, our performance in the blocking and serving departments played an important role in the result. However, despite this advantage, we are preparing for the return match with full concentration. In Volleyball, every set matters, and the momentum of a match can change very quickly. Maritza are a strong opponent, and we expect them to come out more aggressively in the second leg. Our main objective is to maintain our playing style, ensure consistency in serve reception, be effective in attack and remain disciplined in our blocking and defensive systems. Playing at home in Tovuz, with the support of our fans, will provide us with additional motivation. I believe the team will rise to the challenge and give its very best to secure qualification for the main phase of the CEV Champions League.”

Yuliya Karimova, libero of Turan: “The preparation period has been productive. We have worked extensively on our tactics and analysed our opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. The team is determined to deliver its best Volleyball. Every match is important, especially at this level. We understand the responsibility and are ready to fight for every point. Discipline, teamwork, concentration and following the coach’s instructions will be key. Our mindset is positive and determined. We are one team, we support each other and are ready to give everything on the court to make our supporters proud.”
