    Eczacibasi through to quarterfinals after fifth win in Pool D

    The 2015 champions have booked their tickets to the quarterfinals. Eczacibasi Vitra ISTANBUL managed to win their fifth straight match and have secured top spot in Pool D. Lokomotiv KALININGRAD Region fought like lions, but they weren’t able to shake the Tigers. Up until now the second tournament is a copy of the first for Eczacibasi, beating STUTTGART in five set and KALININGRAD 3-0. Earlier on Wednesday Dinamo MOSCOW beat Allianz MTV STUTTGART. MOSCOW will end up in second place for sure, but they probably will need another win on Thursday to have a chance at advancing to the quarterfinals.

    Lokomotiv fought ferociously from the start of the match, it seemed to be the plan to overwhelm the Turkish side. But Eczacibasi remained cool and collected. With Tijana Bošković and Jordan Thompson hitting hard from all angles, it just wasn’t enough what Lokomotiv brought to the party. The almost 2,500 spectators cheered the Russian team on, but to no avail.

    • On Lokomotiv’s side Irina Voronkova managed to score 16, she was the only one to end up in double digits for her team.

    • Eczacibasi Vitra ISTANBUL are the third team to have qualified for the quarterfinals. Last week A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO were first, earlier on Wednesday it were compatriots VakifBank ISTANBUL who earned their ticket.
