    Overview

    The Czech VK UP OLOMOUC meet Pool E leaders Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA in a match where the Italians are expected to seize an easy victory. On the opening day of the tournament in Police, NOVARA managed to outclass Dinamo KAZAN at 3-1, and put one foot in the Quarterfinals draw. The players around Stefano Lavarini are currently topping the charts in the pool, with 11 points, followed by Grupa Azoty Chemik POLICE who have 10.

    NOVARA showed better nerves in the decisive moments in their Tuesday fixture (opening the match in their favour at 30-28 in the first set), but at some point, it seemed like that were lacking some concentration.

    VK UP OLOMOUC, on the other hand, lost at 0-3 from the host team of Grupa Azoty Chemik POLICE, but were very close to taking the second set, so they are definitely not to be underestimated.

    Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA claim yet another victory

    The Italian Powerhouse of Igor Gorgonzola NOVARA claimed yet another victory in the #CLVolleyW tournament taking place in Police. On Wednesday, they outclassed at 3-1 the team of VK UP OLOMOUC. Despite the loss, the Czech player had their chances to turn things around especially after emerging victorious in the second set. The Italians, however, showed better skills and fighting spirit in the decisive moments, and even though they lacked concentration from time to time, were able to get the best out of the situation and remain on first place in the current standing in the pool.


    • NOVARA stormed out in the first set. Taking the lead from the very beginning, the players around Stefano Lavarini were more successful in attack and better on block. Although VK UP OLOMOUC tried to react, it was too late it this part for them to change the situation. Malwina Smarzek-Godek topped the charts in these moments with 8 points.
    • The second set started unfolding quite differently. The Czech team stepped up their game, and there were many changes in the lead. Maria Priscilla Schlegel Mosegui and Lucie Nova were contributing the most for their team’s good performance.
    • Novara reacted very quickly, and with 5 successful blocks and 5 aces were without any doubt the better team in the third set.
    • In the remainder of the match, both teams fought hard. Some unforced errors affected Novara’s game but in the end, they found their way back to the victory.
    • NOVARA finish with 44% efficiency in attack.
    • Malwina Smarzek-Godek of NOVARA recorded 18 points to her name and became MVP of the game. Britt Herbots added 16 for her team’s victory. For VK UP OLOMOUC, Maria Prisicilla Schlegel contributed with 14 points.

    Today we let some errors affect our game, but still, I am proud of my team. Yesterday’s match vs Dinamo Kazan was a very emotional for us, and this had its impact on us today. The Czech team also played better today, they were good at the serve
