The BERLIN Recycling Volleys have a little anniversary coming up this year. They are taking part in the top European competition for the tenth time in a row. The Berliners' greatest success dates to the 2014/2015 season, when they finished third in the Final Four they hosted in Berlin. Last season, they failed in the quarterfinals against the eventual finalist Itas TRENTINO (1:3, 0:3).
Since the BR Volleys celebrated their return to the CEV Champions League in the 2012/13 season, the capital club has received guests from all over Europe - although an opponent from Serbia has not yet been included. So, it is premiere in the “Volleyballtemple” to compete against Vojvodina NOVI SAD.
The eleven-time and reigning German champions BERLIN Recycling Volleys are still undefeated on a national level this season. They won all 13 matches in the Bundesliga, Supercup and Cup. In total, the men from the capital city have only lost three sets.
For Olympic bronze medalist Santiago Danani (Libero/ARG) and Matthew West (Setter/USA) the match against NOVI SAD is their Champions League debut. All other players in the fourteen-man squad have Champions League experience.

BERLIN Recycling Volleys v Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD
Cedric ENARD"A Champions League opener is never easy, but we mastered it. We had to deal with the emotions and had difficulties in the reception. Novi Sad took a lot of risks on serve without their main attacker Paraphunov and created pressure. All in all, it was certainly not our best match this season, so we are even happier to have won 3:0. We attacked strongly despite the reception problems and Ben was the deserved MVP today."
head coach of Berlin Recycling Volleys
Benjamin Patch"It was so much fun today in front of this audience. It's a privilege in these pandemic times that we get to enjoy evenings like this as professionals. The energy in the arena was worthy of a Champions League opener and we were able to compete at a high level. Volleyball is a sport that thrives on energy and rhythm. The latter was missing from us in the first set. But we are a team that is confident in itself and remained calm. That was the key to this important first win."
