3. Seven days ago, the BR Volleys lost a match for the first time this season after a total of 21 victories in all competitions.  They lost 3-2 to rivals VfB Friedrichshafen in the semi-finals of the German Cup.

4. Head coach Cedric Enard celebrated a small anniversary in the last Champions League match at Benfica Lisbon, it was his 20th match as Berlin's coach. Upcoming weekend, Croatia's new head coach will also coach his 100th match as a German Bundesliga coach against eliminated CEV Cup participant United Volleys Frankfurt.

5. Samuel Tuia (Berlin) and Kamil Baranek (Novi Sad) know each other from their time together at Galatasaray Istanbul. They played together in Turkey in 2014/15 and formed the outside spiker line for Galatasaray

“Unfortunately, this will be the last home match, so it is important for us to play the best we can, especially against a team like Berlin. We want to do everything we can to win. Berlin is a great team, very disciplined. It will be important to have good serve and block. Also, I expect that Baranek and Parapunov play good match, especially".

BR Volleys remain impeccable in Pool D

Article

Berlin Recycling Volleys seized their fourth win in CLVolleyM Pool D this Wednesday, after disappointing in three sets the inspired team of Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD in front of more than 2500 cheering fans.

- The hosts started off inspired in the match, and led by Radoslav Parapunov took the lead at 9-5. However, with the set unfolding, Berlin Recycling Volleys were able to get closer and started breathing down their opponents’ necks. After a close call in the last minutes, the players of Enard, with Jeffrey Jendryk at the serving line and substitutuon of Samuel Tuia were able to turn things around and emerge victorious. Scoring more on their opponents’ errors (seven to five) was crucial for the guest team in this set.

- The guest side dominated fully on the court in the next set. 22-year-old Czech opposite Marek Sotola delivered a great block against his 16-years-older compatriot Kamil Baranek, putting an end to the discussion in this part.

- BR Volleys had another comeback in the third set, counting on experienced captain Sergey Grankin’s serves. The home side, on the other hand, couldn’t seize their opportunities, after leading at 16-14. After a close call in the last deciding minutes, Berlin’s middle blocker Jeff Jendryk (named MVP, with 11 points to his name) together with Benjamin Patch&Timothée Carle became heroes for their team, recording important three points, taking home the victory.

- Overall, Berlin were better on attacking (38 to 32) and slightly better on blocking (10 to nine). Vojvodina, on the other hand, aced one more time (four to three).

- Radoslav Parapunov of the home side became top scorer, finishing with 16 points.

„I think the key to success today was our offense. We were looking really good and felt good out there. First set was little rocky, but we were able to finish it positive. With twelve points we definitely feel confident now. But we know St. Peterburg will be a really though team to play against. So we have to bring up our best game up their to make it to the next round."

Jeff Jendryk
Player of BERLIN Recycling Volleys

"It was time to prove something, and we did it. We stayed mentally strong after a not so easy start and stepped up on our own side. Jeffrey played an excellent game, but Sergey also executed the match plan well. Special praise also goes to our entire reception around Ruben, Santiago, Tim and of course Samu, who laid the foundation for the victory. With twelve points now, we have every chance of advancing. That's what we were hoping for."

Cedric Enard
Head coach of BR Volleys

“I am sorry we lost the first set. It was a key for the whole game. We couldn’t resist on the pressure.”

Slobodan Boskan
Head coach of Vojvodina Novi Sad
