Lokomotiv Kaliningrad Region earned extremely important victory over SC Prometey Dnipro in the 5th leg of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022. The match was played on neutral ground at Burhan Felek Voleybol Salonu in ISTANBUL, Turkey. Although it was not an easy walk for the team under guidance of Andrei Voronkov, they managed to complete their task and will come back home with three important points that keep them in quest for a spot in quarterfinals.

The game itself was full of turnarounds, as leading was changing back and forth. In the opening part Dnipro powered by their leader Heidy Casanova who scored as many as 8 points, didn't find an answer to well-balanced game of Kaliningrad. The next part, however, was a real thriller. Prometey took 14-7 lead, but then Lokomotiv started to chase the score and they actually managed to level-up the score at 22-22. Even if they didn't manage to use the first chance to close the set, they didn't waste the second set ball. It was a painful lost for Dnipro, who was not giving up and with great performances of Casanova (6 points) and Dimitrova (4) they managed to prolong the game to the fourth set. Lokomotiv started to serve stronger and this brought fruits as Dnipro struggled in receptions (only 27%). Captain of Lokomotiv Irina Voronkova (6 points in 4th set) led her teammates by example, having a solid support from Ekaterina Evdomkimova (5 points), the team from Kaliningrad sealed their victory. Voronkova's efforts were recognized with MVP award, as she contributed with 23 points.
