It’s the fight for the first place in Pool A. Both teams already have two wins in the books. JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel took home two straight wins against MONTPELLIER HSC VB and Vojvodina NS Seme NOVI SAD, while VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN had to come back after being two sets down against the French champions.
The match up is kind of familiar for both teams, because they already met during last season’s group stage.It’s the first game in front of spectators in their home city for VfB Friedrichshafen since two and a half years. After one COVID season 2020 without spectators the Häfler had to play all home matches 2021/22 in Neu-Ulm because of construction issues at iconic ZF ARENA. Now the team is back at the shores of Lake Constance.
Special game for Polish setter Mateusz Biernat. The 30 year old grew up 30 kilometers away from Jastrzebie-Zdroj and knows the club very well. With opposite Michal Superlak VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN has another Polish player who is very looking forward to face the Polish vice champion.
The warrior is back. After suffering a rupture of the Achilles tendon during the German playoff finals in April, Vojin Cacic fought back to be part of the team again. The outside hitter from Montenegro and captain of the National Team celebrated his first appearance after seven months of recovery one week ago in the German Cup Quarter Finals.
VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN surfs on the wave of success. After losing the first Bundesliga game against archrivals BERLIN Recycling Volleys, the Häfler won nine consecutive matches in three competitions. On Saturday Mark Lebedew’s team overpowered SWD powervolleys DÜREN in three sets.
