How Oleh Plotnytskyi became the Top Performer of the quarter-finals

The quarter-finals of the CEV Champions League Volley 2021 Men provided some of the most intense volleyball moments of the season as the top eight teams in Europe locked horns in their quest to become part of the elite four.

The All-Italian matchup between Leo Shoes Modena and Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia was one of the most engaging of the quart-finals stage with both teams giving it their all across the two matches. However, it was Perugia that managed to book their place in the semi-finals and one of the most influential players to have contributed to this achievement was Ukrainian star Oleh Plotnytskyi.

The 23-year-old Oleh Plotnytskyi has been a key player for the Ukrainian national team at both youth and senior level for years already, playing a huge role in his country winning the Silver Medal at the 2016 U20 European Championship, while also receiving the Most Valuable Player and Best Outside Spiker Awards at that tournament.

Now in his second season with the Italians from Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia, Oleh already looks more than fully integrated into the squad and contributing greatly to his team reaching the semi-finals of the CEV Champions League Volley being the second top scorer in the team for the whole season, only behind superstar Wilfredo Leon.

As a result of his performances in the quarter-finals matchup, Oleh Plotnytskyi has been selected as Top Performer of the Round and here is how he did it!

Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia is getting ready for another Italian battle in the Champions League semi-finals, this time against Trentino Itas, one of the most consistent teams this season. The first match of this tie will take place in Trentino (18th March) while the return leg is schedule to take place in Perugia only a week later (24th March).
