Is Trentino's lead in all scoring skill stats enough?

Having gone through the qualifiers of Round 2 in order to advance to the main phase of pool play and then through to the Super Finals, Trentino have played a total of 13 matches. That's more than any other team this year in the CEV Champions League Volley 2021 - including their opponent on Saturday for the men's trophy, Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle who have played 10.

Star opposite Nimir Abdel-Aziz of the Netherlands is the top scorer so far of the Champions League this season. Although he played a few matches as setter, he tops the list on 188 points, ahead of Zaksa's Kamil Semeniuk (153) and Lukasz Kaczmarek (144).

Even without the 23 points he scored in the extra matches of Round 2, Abdel-Aziz still tops the best scorers ranking. He is not, however, the most successfull scorer in relative numbers, coming in at 4.37 points per set on average, below Kaczamarek (4.00). Wilfredo Leon of Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia is the overall best scorer on average, at 4.96 per set.

Trentino have produced a whopping 121 blocks in their 13 matches. Even without their 15 stuffs from Round 2, they're still the only team across the board to have broken the 100-mark.

So it's not really surprising that their two Serbian middle blockers, Srecko Lisinac and Marko Podrascanin, also top the individual rankings on 27 and 23 blocks respectively, with Abdel-Aziz coming in at number 4 on 19.

And in attack, Trentino also top the charts with an overall team efficiency of 56% (550 kills from 982 swings). However, at individual level their most efficient player (Abdel-Aziz again) ranks quite low at 14th overall with 56.12% (133/237).

Who else but Abdel-Aziz, also leads Trentino (and indeed all of the Champions League pack) in serving, having delivered as many as 36 aces (4 from Round 2) or an amazing .84 per set.

Trentino have some incredible records to live up to when they take on Kedzierzyn-Kozle on Saturday, but these will count for nothing if they can't produce and deliver on the night.
