Lorenzetti: Playing a SuperFinal is a unique experience, Zaksa is a nice challenge

The SuperFinalists from TRENTINO Itas might have started with some difficulties in the 2020/2021 season, but as the days passed, the team coached by the Italian specialist Angelo Lorenzetti, built up gradually their confidence, overcoming obstacles along the way, and eventually, reaching the most important #CLVolleyM match. In Verona, TRENTINO will play a title-deciding game vs the Polish machine of Grupa Azoty KEDZIERZYN KOZLE. At the helm of TRENTINO since 2016, Lorenzetti and his team have won the 2019 #CEVCupM trophy, the Club World Championship in 2018, and now have their eyes on Europe's most prestigious club trophy.

On the way to the 2021 #SuperFinals, TRENTINO Itas disappointed Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia in the first semi-final 3-0, a victory that became crucial given the 2-3 loss in the rematch. “The most important lesson from the second semi-final is that we need to play every game as if it was the last one. It seemed that we were destined to the Golden Set, but things changed because of how both teams performed, and we were able to secure our spot in the #SuperFinal”. 

The last time TRENTINO was on the #CLVolleyM podium was in 2016, losing in the final from Zenit KAZAN, and it has been exactly 10 years since the Italians were crowned champions in the competition. Compared to the group that played in Kraków five years ago, only the setter Simone Giannelli and the libero Carlo De Angelis are still on the roster. Nevertheless, all the players are “hungry” for grabbing the trophy.

TRENTINO has finished their participation in the Italian SuperLega, and not making it to the Final Playoffs, will put the focus only on the Super Final. Lorenzetti is objective about the situation. “Having such an important game without playing official matches for such a long time, is something that neither the staff, nor the players are prepared for. Now, we have to work with what we have, without looking for what we cannot get which would be official matches to help us prepare better. We will try to explore the potential of these days to the maximum.”

The #SuperFinals will be ‘a battle scene’ for the two top scorers of the #CLVolleyM this season - Nimir Abdel - Aziz and Kamil Semeniuk. However, Lorenzetti is sure that TRENTINO should pay attention to all the opponent players. “It is of no surprise that Grupa Azoty qualified for the final. They have gone a long way, with a well-established and efficient game system."

The final match up of the 2021 #CLVolleyM will be an opportunity to cross paths with Nikola Grbic, a former setter of TRENTINO. "I think that this team represents Grbic's way of playing. This is what makes playing against his Zaksa in the final a complicated and, at the same time, beautiful task.
