With A. Carraro Imoco CONEGLIANO and Grupa Azoty KEDZIERDZYN KOZLE securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the elite CEV Champions League Volley 2021 last week, Volleyball fans can already start looking forward to the Drawing of Lots for the next stage of the competition. The much-anticipated DOL will be taking place at the home of European Volleyball in Luxembourg on February 12 starting at 12 CET, with live streaming available on the CEV YouTube channel as well as on the CEV’s European Volleyball Facebook page.

The five pool winners and the three best runners-up across all groups will progress to the next stage of the competition. The Italian ‘Panthers’ of Imoco and the Polish team from Kedzierzyn-Kozle were the first ones to stamp a ticket to the quarterfinals as they completed a clean sweep of their matches in women’s Pool B and men’s Pool A, respectively. They did so in emphatic style, as Imoco and Grupa Azoty dropped only one and three sets in the process.

We will know the names of all the remaining seven teams due to join CONEGLIANO in the quarterfinals by Thursday night at the latest, when action concludes across another four groups in the women’s competition. The men’s League Round, on the other hand, will resume and conclude next week, right on the eve of the Drawing of Lots.

After adjusting the schedule of the League Round and introducing the concept of ‘bio-secure bubbles’ to cope in the best way with the restrictions and constraints still caused by the global health crisis, the CEV has confirmed that the quarterfinals and semis will run as home and away matches. The season will be reaching its climax with the winner-takes-all Super Finals scheduled for May 1, 2021.

Earlier this season, the CEV announced a record-breaking prize money for the 2021 edition of the CEV Champions League Volley standing at an unprecedented € 4.8 million. With full gender equality in place, the eventual winners of the competition will secure a € 500,000 check – the highest amount ever awarded in European club competitions.
