CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Men
After an extremely busy summer for national team volleyball, club volleyball is back with the early rounds of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 in full swing.
The matches we have witnessed so far have not disappointed and despite not having a large quantity of matches to analyze yet, we have decided to take a quick look at how the points leaderboard looks.
With Bigbank Tartu having started the competition in the preliminary round, three of their players are currently unsurprisingly sitting in top 5 scorers after 3 matches played. The first of these three is Outside spiker, Albert Hurt who managed to have a good game this week as well, scoring 18 pts in a disappointing loss on home court against Benfica.
Joining Hurt in the top 5 are teammates Martti Juhkami and Valentin Kordas, Milija Mrdak from Lindaren Volley Amriswil, team eliminated by Bigbank Tartu in the preliminary round and Boris Buša, the Serbian from Mladost Zagreb who managed an impressive 28 points in his first match of the competition.
While Boris Buša leads the path for players with only one match played so far, there are quite a few outstanding performers to keep an eye on in the returning leg of these ties, such as Sastamala’s Jiri HÄNNINEN (26 pts), Karlovarsko’s Patrik INDRA (22 pts), Soligorsk’s Artsem MASKO (22 pts) and Rieker’s Peter MLYNARCIK (22 pts) to name a few.
Due to special circumstances, with both matches between Shakhtior Soligorsk and IBB Polonia London taking place on neutral ground in Poland, the return leg will take place today thus giving us the first team to be qualified into the 2nd Round. All other return matches are scheduled to take place next week.
