CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Men
On 1st May last year, Zaksa and Trentino went head to head in the SuperFinals Verona in a 4-sets match that ended with the Polish side making history by winning the trophy that fans from all over the country had been waiting for the last 43 years, becoming the first Polish side to win the CEV Champions League Volley.
Almost a year after that incredible match, the same two teams are in the semi-finals of the competition yet again and go into the second leg of the round as favorites after attaining hard fought wins just a week ago against Jastrzebski Wegiel and Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia respectively.
Their opponents however are in no way to be overlooked. After going out in the semis last year, eliminated by the same Trentino they are facing now and losing the first match on home court, Perugia will be more than ready to claim their spot in the SuperFinals.
The talent both teams have on the court in this all-Italian semi-final is absolutely incredible, with names such as Wilfredo Leon, Simone Giannelli and the in-form Kamil Rychlicki for Perugia or Alessandro Michieletto, Daniele Lavia and Srecko Lisinac for Trentino, just to name a few.
A return semi-final that will decide who will get a chance to fight for the much coveted trophy in Ljubljana will undoubtedly be one of the most spectacular matches of the season.
The all-Polish semi-final seems to be a bit less balanced with last year’s domestic league champions from Jastrzebski Wegiel being overpowered in the first match. We can’t forget however the run they have been on this season, culminating with them eliminating the Italians from Cucine Lube Civitanova in the quarter-finals.
Both semi-final matches will be live and on demand on CEV's EuroVolley.TV.
