CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women
CV GRAN CANARIA need a 3-0 or 3-1 away victory to stay in contention and vie for an all-important Golden Set. If the Spaniards win 3-2 or lose the re-match as well, they will continue their European journey in the CEV Cup.
Last year, CV GRAN CANARIA showed that they possess the heart of a champion – and they did so across all domestic competitions. This past weekend, they achieved further success in the Super Cup where they beat Feel Volley Alcobendas and they now wish to show much of the same in the re-match with Mladost as well.
To achieve this goal, Pascual Saurín has prepared thoroughly for a match that will be as historic as it is vital because of the decisive nature of the tie.
Pascual Saurín“We are going to play a difficult game against a great team like Mladost. They showed a good performance in Las Palmas, but now both teams start from scratch again, and we are ready for this challenge. We must fight until the end. We made some mistakes in the first and the second set. We have worked hard and watched some videos to try to play better the next time. I think that we are ready to show our best game.”
Lucía Varela“We are going to Zagreb to make it to the next round. We need to play at our best level and the result of the first game does not matter. Listening to the CEV Champions League anthem played before our home match was an incredible moment. I was very excited because I had the feeling that we belong to the best players in the world.”
Mladost ZAGREB are the reigning national champions of Croatia and they will rely on Mirta Freund, Martina Samadan, Dinka Kulic and Natalia Tomic to secure their spot in the 2nd Round.
