Super Match of the Week live from Istanbul

The first Super Match of the Week in the CEV Champions League Volley – Women takes us to the Turkish mega city of Istanbul where the giants from Fenerbahce, Champions League Winners in 2012, will be hosting the Bulgarians from Maritza Plovdiv, a constant presence in the competition since the 2016/17 season.

Fenerbahce’s CEV Champions League Volley season has been everything they would’ve probably hoped for so far, winning their first three matches and only dropping a point. On the other hand, Maritza has not been able to put an end to their winless streak (9 defeats in a row) with their last win in the competition having taken place in the last group stage match of 2019/20 against Uralochka-NTMK EKATERINBURG.

In the reverse fixture that took place in Plovdiv a little over a month ago, Russian teen star Arina Fedorovtseva lead her team to a 1-3 victory scoring a match high 26 points along the way.

With 77 points before today’s match, Arina is the highest scorer in the competition (77 pts) being very close to overpassing her total from last season (82 pts) when playing for Dinamo –Ak Bars Kazan, proving what an incredible season she has been having since moving to Turkey.
