The eagerly anticipated CEV Champions League Volley 2023 Super Finals scheduled for May 20 in Turin are the first major highlight of a special year for European Volleyball that coincides with the CEV’s 50th anniversary. With fans from more than 40 countries across the globe – as far as Japan and Hong Kong – among those that have bought tickets to attend the title-deciding matches, all parties involved in the delivery of the event expect a full house and a spine-tingling atmosphere to accompany the actions of many of the world’s best players.

A press conference was held on Wednesday at Turin City Hall some two weeks away from the Super Finals

The fourth edition of the Super Finals since their introduction in 2019 will be taking place in a little more than two weeks at the iconic Pala Alpitour in Turin with a Turkish derby between VakifBank and Eczacibasi Dynavit ISTANBUL for the women’s crown followed by a Polish affair in the men’s final between titleholders Grupa Azoty KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE and JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel.

A number of high-profile authorities came together on Wednesday morning at the City Hall in Turin, emphasising the importance of the event for the Volleyball family, the city of Turin and the wider region of Piedmont.

“We are happy that such an event, the real highlight of the club season, will be taking place here in Turin. Italy is obviously a very strong country when it comes to Volleyball and the organisation of major events – and we know that Turin is an ideal partner after they delivered the final stage of the men’s World Championship in 2018. We can look forward to a full house and to witnessing the actions of the top four teams in the world in what will be a truly energising international event."

CEV President

The President of the Italian Volleyball Federation, Mr Giuseppe Manfredi, obviously regretted that no team from the host country has reached the Super Finals. However, he acknowledged the value of the four clubs that will contest the gold medal matches and stressed that all partners are committed to the delivery of a truly entertaining and majestic event. His words were echoed by the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, and the Governor of the Piedmont Region, Alberto Cirio, as well as the President of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, Dario Gallina. They all are supporting the organisation of the Super Finals and recognise that such they will help further raise the profile of Turin as a city and an area where elite sport is at home, revitalise the local economy after the coronavirus pandemic and inspire youngsters to follow and chase their dreams on and off the court too.

The Super Finals will bring together and unite people in many ways, so let’s continue the countdown to May 20!
