Halkbank ANKARA return to contest the CEV Champions League Volley after the star-studded team from the Turkish capital city finished as runners-up in last year’s CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup. They will contest their first match in Pool B away from home – playing against Polish rookies Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE.

The team’s setter Micah Ma’a from USA is obviously excited ahead of his CEV Champions League debut. He shared his feelings after joining a shooting organised by famous photographer Ali Ünal at the iconic Ethnography Museum of Ankara.

Micah knows his next opponent very well through a previous stint in the elite Polish national league with GKS KATOWICE.

“As you know, I played in Poland last year. Luckily, I know very well some of the Polish clubs and their players. I was in the same team with most of these guys. It is a strong team. They played very well last year, and they have some very talented players. They kept some of their players from last year and they added more to their list. Their ball control should be very good,”

he said about Aluron CMC.

“They have a very good group of supporters there in Zawercie. It will be interesting to see where the two teams stand. I am excited. Let’s play and see. After this Champions League match, we will travel directly to the south of Türkiye, namely to a city called Antakya, instead of returning home. We will play our national league match against the local team, and then we will return to Ankara and wait for our next Champions League opponent – the BERLIN Recycling Volleys. Our aim is to make it through this busy schedule with as much success as possible,” he concluded.
