CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Women
The Santiago Martin Hall vibrated with energy as Tenerife La Laguna played its first match of the CEV Champions League Volley 2023, a straight sets win that could be extremely valuable before the team travels t Bosnia for the return match.
The game started well for Tenerife, taking a 4-1 lead and prompting the first timeout for the visitors. From that point onwards, the Bosnians improved to take the match to 8-10. There was room for improvement in the reception, and they managed to adjust for a 7-0 lead (15-10). However, Bimal Jedinstvo began to suffer from the leadership of Patricia Aranda and the attacks of Lisbet Arredondo and Julie Leng-weiler. Tenerife's Libby played their game and managed to take the first set 25-17.
Nerves got the better of the Bosnian side at the start of the second set (8-2). Meg Wolowicz showed one of the aspects she has been working on in recent weeks: aggressive serving. The center, with two direct points, made Radmila Markovic call her second timeout (14-7). Even that did not change the trend of a set that clearly went to Tenerife Libby's La Laguna (25-10).
Tenerife Libby's La Laguna stayed in the match and did not give Radmila Markovic's team the slightest chance to win (14-5). Juan Diego Garcia dragged his second unit, and this responded from serve and block, including the junior Elsa Lias, who played the last three points of the match (25-11).
The return match is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 25th October and will be available live and on demand at EuroVolley.TV.
