CLVolleyM All-Star Team Vote: Opposites Nominees

The anticipation is rising as we count down the day to the #SuperFinalsAntalya. On May 5th the new champions will lift the most prestigious club trophy in Europe, but before that, the Volleyball fans from all around the world can vote for the 2024 Champions League Volley All-Star Team to recognise the efforts of the players who were part of this thrilling edition. The CEV analysts selected four nominees for each position and now it's your turn to select those who deserved this recognition the most. 

Day by day we focus on one position, providing you some key figures from stat sheets. If you already have your favourites, you get a chance to compare their stats against other nominees, if you still have a doubt who to vote for, you will get a complex of digits. Today we take a closer look at opposites. They carry a lot of pressure on their shoulders, as they are the focal point of the team's offense. They used hammer point by point, and their powerful spikes make the difference on the court.

Adis Lagumdžija, 25-year-old Turkish opposite of Bosniak descent marked his performance with Cucine Lube Civitanova, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The scoring leader of the team in his first campaign with Lube tallied 161 points in 10 games (4.47 set average). His stats included 18 aces, 12 killing blocks and 131 winning attacks. Among our nominees he had the highest efficiency and success in attack - as he recorded 44% and 55.51%, respectively.

Nimir Abdel-Aziz couldn't be missed among shortlisted, as the 32-year-old Flying Dutchman again performed in class of his own. Although the journey of Halkbank Ankara was over in the quarter-finals, he earned in total 198 points in 10 games (more points were tallied only by players of Las Palmas who played in 15 games) which gives 5.08 per set!

As always his serves spread destruction on the other side of the net  - in this campaign the counter showed 25 aces next to his name, making him the second best server behind Paolo Zonca from Las Palmas - 28 aces (again in 15 games). In attack Nimir Abdel-Aziz hammered 159 points (4.08 per set), however the kill spike was 46.76%. Among our nominees he was also the best blocker with 15 stuffs. 

Łukasz Kaczmarek and the winners of the three last CLVolleyM editions Grupa Azoty Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle didn't manage to reach the finals again, being eliminated already in the play-offs.

 Despite disappointing result, the 29-year-old Polish scoring machine contributed 148 points in 8 games (4.48 per set), including 133 winning attacks - 49.19% success in this element. His powerful serves gave impulse to the team on several occasions, as he delivered 15 aces, in addition he got 11 killing blocks.

Marek Šotola reached the quarterfinals with Berlin Recycling Volleys in this edition. The 24-year-old opposite from Czechia, who play for Berlin since 2011, recorded 141 points in 10 games (4.41 per set).

Powerful spiker's season summary includes 126 killing attacks (47.78% success), 8 block stuffs and 4 aces.
