Fans have spoken! CEV Champions League Volley 2024 Women All-Star Team Revealed

Over the last weeks, since the conclusion of the semifinals, fans all over the world were able to vote in the All-Star team polls for the CEV Champions League Women and tens of thousands of them have taken the opportunity to support their favourite players.

Four players were nominated for each position – one setter, one opposite, one libero and two outside hitters and two middle blockers – with the fans deciding the winner in each category with their votes.

The interest was huge, as several players, like VakifBank’s Gabriela Guimaraes or Eczacıbaşı Dynavit Istanbul’s Tijana Bošković managed to galvanise their fans and clinch over 40.000 votes, being slotted into this season’s All-Star line-up.

Four players – three from A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano and one from Allianz Vero Volley Milano – plus Conegliano’s coach, Davide Santarelli, also made it to the Super Finals, which will take place on Sunday, 5 May, in Antalya.

The largest number of votes was secured by outside hitter Gabi Guimaraes, who had 54.083 votes for a whopping 82.5% of the fans’ votes, followed by Tijana Bošković, Eczacıbaşı Dynavit Istanbul’s opposite, who had 57.7% of the votes, or 46.662 votes in the fans’ poll.

Middle blocker Eda Erdem, who had 17 blocks in seven matches for Fenerbahçe Opet Istanbul), also dominated her category, sealing 31.630 votes, or 59.9% of the total votes, while Allianz Vero Volley Milanos’s Raphaela Folie also sealed her category with 19.365 votes, or 42.7% of the total.

Another player who went close to 20.000 votes was American outside hitter Kathryn Plummer, who starred for Conegliano in this season, helping her side clinch ten wins on their way to the Super Finals. Plummer secured 19.393 votes, or 36.6% of the total votes for that position.

Another Conegliano star, setter Joanna Wolosz, had 8719 votes and a 46.9% of the total votes to reach the All-Star team, while her teammate, libero Monica De Gennaro, had 10.771 votes for a 36.6% to seal her position in the best team of the season.

The mastermind of A.Carraro Imoco Conegliano’s amazing season, Daniele Santarelli, who has won the Super Finals with Conegliano in 2021, was named the best coach of the season by the voting fans, with 9643 votes or 57.3% of the total in this category.
