A December to Remember: Levallois’ First #CLVolleyW Win
Feature
Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud have written a brand-new page in their history by securing their first-ever victory in the CEV Champions League Volley Women. Achieved in December, the landmark success turned the month into one to remember for the French champions, coming in dramatic fashion and immediately positioning them as one of the most intriguing teams to follow this season.
Competing in Pool E alongside KS Developres Rzeszów, Bulgaria’s Maritza Plovdiv, and Germany’s SSC Palmberg Schwerin, the Paris-based side announced themselves emphatically on the European stage.
A Night of High Drama
The historic win unfolded in a match defined by sharp momentum swings. Under the guidance of head coach Alessandro Orefice, Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud dominated the opening stages, storming through the first two sets with confidence and intensity. However, experience from their Polish opponents saw KS Developres Rzeszów claw their way back into the contest, forcing a decisive tie-break.
In a tense fifth set, with the pressure at its peak, Les Mariannes showed remarkable composure. Holding firm in the closing moments, the French side edged the tie-break 15-13, triggering jubilant celebrations and marking a milestone moment for the club and French women’s Volleyball.
A Club on a Steady Rise
Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud (LPSC) stands among the most established and ambitious women’s Volleyball clubs in France. Formed through the merger of Paris Saint-Cloud and Levallois Sporting Club, the club has forged a strong and coherent identity rooted in elite performance, long-term player development, and an expanding footprint on the European stage. In recent seasons, LPSC has been a consistent contender at the top of the French league, capturing two national championship titles and firmly cementing its position among the country’s leading Volleyball institutions.
This season represents Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud’s second appearance in the Champions League. Their previous campaign in 2024/2025 ended in the group phase, where they failed to register a win across six matches. Two of those defeats came against SSC Palmberg Schwerin, whom they will face again later this season in Pool E, adding an extra layer of narrative to the campaign.
Domestically, however, LPSC arrive with strong credentials. The club has won the French league in each of the past two seasons and reached the semi-finals of the 2024 CEV Cup, where they were eliminated by Italy’s Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76. The squad also reflects a clear commitment to youth development, with six players currently under the age of 20.
Last season’s Champions League top scorer for the club was Bianca Cugno, who amassed 95 points before moving on to Brazil’s Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde. Despite her departure, the team has demonstrated that it retains both depth and resilience.
Voices from the Historic Night
Head coach Alessandro Orefice underlined the significance of the result:
Alessandro Orefice“This first Champions League victory is something very special for the club. After our recent successes in the French championship, this match adds an important new chapter to LPSC’s history. We did not necessarily expect such a performance, especially in such an intense atmosphere, but the team showed great character. I am very proud to have contributed to writing this piece of the club’s history.”
Head coach of Levallois Paris Saint-Cloud
Match MVP - setter Victoria Mayer, echoed the emotional weight of the occasion:
