Nowakowski leads Warszawa to third win in Pool D

Knack Roeselare and Verva Warszawa Orlen Paliwa couldn't find their right rhythm in the opener. Roeselare struggled on serving line committing four errors in early stage, but despite it with great team efforts they enjoyed the lead through the most of the time in this set thanks to a solid work of trio Tuerlinckx, Verhanneman and Fasteland. Roeselare reached a four-point-advantage at 21-17 that let them safely close the first set. In the second part, Andrea Anastasi decided to modify his starting six, thus Bartosz Kwolek came in. The game was very tight, but a first significant advantage came at 16-13 for Warszawa that was quickly extended to six points and the Polish club won this part. Verva Warszawa kept the positive energy and got impressive early lead 9-2 enlarging the advantage further even to ten points. In the decisive part the Belgian team reduced the gap to four points (18-22), but it was too late to change the fate of this set. The fourth started with a point-by-point race, with Michal Superlak on serving line Verva jumped to 14-12, it was a breakthrough point, as despite some minor problems, they kept improving the score to grab important win for three points.
- Set 1 was dominated by Belgian trio Tuerlinckx, Verhanneman and Fasteland - all of them scored 5 points apiece.
- Andrea Anastasi decided to start second set with Bartosz Kwolek who didn't appear in the opener. Polish outside spiker enjoyed 60% of success attack.
- Being far behind Verva in third set, coach Vanmedegael made several substitutions. Outside spiker Andreas-Dimitrios Fragkos impressed with 86% of positivie receptions.
- Piotr Nowakowski ruled on court in the last set - 83% of success in attack and 3 winning blocks.
- Nowakowski was also the best scorer of the game with 18 points, including 6 blocks.
- Matthijs Verhanneman and Rune Fasteland tallied 13 apiece for Roeselare.
