1. The match of the 2022 CEV Champions League quarter-finals between Trentino Itas and Berlin Recycling Volleys will be played on Thursday, March 10th at 8:30 pm at the BLM Group Arena. The drawing of lots that took place in Luxembourg on February 18th brought together the two teams that had already fought for the passage to the next round of the same draw in the previous edition. On that occasion, Trentino Itas won both games (3-1 in Berlin on February 25, 3-0 in Trento on March 3, 2021).
2. The first match of the quarter-finals, to be played immediately after the weekend dedicated to the Italian Cup Final Four (which saw Trentino Itas on the second place), will mark the fourth ever appearance of the Berlin Recycling Volleys at the BLM Group Arena in Trento and will confirm the tradition that the Germans have for their play away to Trento in the month of March. In addition to the very recent precedent of last year's edition, the team from the German capital made two other appearances, in 2013, when the facility in Via Fersina was still called "PalaTrento": the first occasion in March (on the 6th) for a pre-Play Off Scudetto friendly (3-1 win for the hosts), the second on October 24th, in the debut match of Pool D of the Champions League (another 3-1 win for the locals).
3. In the Gialloblù roster there are two players who can boast about precedents in the Berlin Recycling Volleys: the libero Julian Zenger, in the team of the capital (with which he won two titles) in the previous two seasons, and the middle blocker Srecko Lisinac, who wore the Berlin jersey in the 2013/14 season (in which he also faced Trentino Volley twice and won the Bundesliga).
4. In the previous ten participations in the Champions League, Trentino Volley always managed to access the final draw of the event, centering the qualification to the quarterfinals in no less than nine cases (until the 2018 edition, the round of 16 was also scheduled). In the 2013 edition, the only precedent in which the club's path stopped in the eight round, when it was eliminated by Dinamo Moscow at the Golden Set. In six cases out of nine, the GialloblĂ¹ team has passed the quarterfinals and reached the semifinals: 2009, 2010, 2011 (all three ended with the final victory of the trophy), 2012 (third place), 2016 (second place) and 2020 (second place).
- For the first time in their club history, the BERLIN Recycling Volleys have qualified for the quarter-finals of the CEV Champions League unbeaten and as group winners. For the German champions, this is a huge success, which they would like to build on with the advantage of playing the second leg in their own arena in this duel with Itas TRENTINO.
- The BR Volleys are coming out of an eleven-day break and were able to prepare thoroughly for the quarter-final against TRENTINO and the play-offs in the German Bundesliga which will start three days later. They won their last match against national rivals VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN 3:1.
- Middle blocker Nehemiah Mote suffered a ligament injury to his right spur joint in that match. However, the Australian international has already resumed training and is back in the squad. Georg Klein, who has been reactivated from volleyball retirement in December, would be his replacement next to the US-American Jeffrey Jendryk while Anton Brehme is still injured.
- The Berliners will meet two familiar faces who can also look forward to a warm welcom in Max-Schmeling-Halle in the return match in a week's time. Julian Zenger (2019 to 2021) and Srecko Lisinac (2013/2014) - both were German champions with the team from the capital.
- To be successful against the Italian top team, the BR Volleys will need their best serve again, as they showed in the 3:2 victories in St. Petersburg (8 and 10 aces). In addition, high hopes rest on Timothée Carle. After Simon Robertlandy, the French national player is the most effective attacker left in the entire competition (65.75 % killing spike) - and that as an outside attacker.
Julian Zenger"I'm very happy to be able to challenge my compatriots; many of them are real friends. In Berlin, in the return match, the arena and the environment will be very warm, because this team is living an exciting season, both in Germany and in the Champions League, as the two victories at home in St. Petersburg clearly show. So a difficult task awaits us, especially because we will play the return match away, but in this case there will be some Germans present to cheer us on: my family".
TRENTINO Itas
Cedric Enard"We are facing a completely different Trentino compared to last year. The team has optimised its way of playing with its special formation. We are not used to play against such a system. That is an additional challenge, but one for which we have prepared intensively. We need our best serve and with that we have the class to hurt every opponent in Europe. If we serve well, everything is possible."

Match Report
TRENTINO Itas v BERLIN Recycling Volleys
Article
In the last #CLVolleyM Quarter-Final match of this week, Trentino Itas has won 3-0 against Berlin Recycling Volley. Although this was the first of the two rounds of the Quarter-Finals, Trentino Itas showed strongess and fightness on the court.
At the BLM Arena, the Italian team confirmed its great competitiveness in the home matches, managing in just three sets to close a very fought match, especially in the first and third partial, and dominated by Trento in the second set.
In the first set, Berlin Recycling Volleys were showing all of their colors and competitiveness on the court. They managed to get really close to Trentino Itas with a score of 26-25. But Trentino's Marko Podrascanin came in with a smash that Berlin couldn't return.
Recycling Volley lost that strength in the second set and soon they were behind with 11-5. They did manage to get back on track but that still wasn't enough for a win in this set so Trentino Itas took another win with 25-22.
In the third set, Berlin Recycling Volley was going all-in since they knew they can't lose anything. At one point they were tied up with Trentino Itas at 19-19. But Italians managed to finish things up and they took a straight 3-0 win with 27-25, 25-19, 25-22.
The MVP of the match was the middle player Srecko Lisinac, scoring 11 times with 69 % in attack, one block, and one ace. He was enough to compensate for the absence of Lavia, who remained at the bleachers after an injury at the abdominals at the very last moment.
The best scorer was the hitter of Trentino Itas Alessandro Michieletto with 13 points, 55 % in attack, and one block. The most important points of the match during the first and third match were his when the team had to speed up a bit in order to win.
Angelo Lorenzetti"It wasn’t easy to win the match for many reasons. We were able not to think of the absence of Lavia and we managed to play a good volleyball especially in the first set and a half. With this result, we know we got the possibility to play the golden set in Germany, and it’s no small thing"
Head Coach
Cedric Enard"The first set was the crucial one to arrive here in this first quarter-final. Both teams deserved to win this one, but we missed our chance. You have to take that chance at this level among the best eight in Europe. After that it became difficult because Trentino put a lot of pressure on us. Today, 0:3 is on the scoreboard, but this quarter-final has a second chapter. The very special atmosphere in the Max-Schmeling-Halle will give our team the necessary push for an exciting second leg."
