Fenerbahçe Opet ISTANBUL won over Dinamo-Ak Bars KAZAN. It secured a spot in the #CLVolleyW quarterfinals, confirming itself as the leader of Pool E and one of the most fearsome teams in the whole competition.

The Turkish guests took a magnificent start by Fedorovtseva’s serve and Lazareva’s attacks, which suddenly brought the game to 2-7.

However, the Russians quickly caught up and even rushed forward, scoring 11-10. But after Fedorovtseva went to the front line, Fenerbahçe regained leadership and kept a two points distance from KAZAN (13 -15) after Arina’s several crippling attacks. The Turkish block worked successfully, too, leading the game to 16-20. Another smashing hit by Fedorovtseva finished the first set.

The next set started better for Dinamo, bringing the situation to 13-10. The hosts fatefully dismissed Melissa Vargas from a return, sending her to the bench. But after an ace from Fedorovtseva the score showed a head-to-head between the two teams:13-13. In the fight that followed, the Turkish players gradually gained the upper hand (18-22) after Lazareva’s flick. In the ending, the struggle became a bit more strained, but the second set was won by the guests too.

The Russian continued fighting, and the third set was played again at the same level in the beginning: 7-7. The vigor of the attacks of the two Russian players of Fenerbahçe Opet ISTANBUL seemed not to decrease a bit, despite the time which had passed since the beginning of the match. Soon the set was brought to 9-14 for the Turkish team after Fedorovtseva’s attack. Meanwhile, the hosts got rather tired and started making mistakes after Koroleva’s serve into the net (16-19). However, the guests soon started making several mistakes that allowed KAZAN to reach 18-20.

Nevertheless, in the end, Fenerbahçe Opet ISTANBUL confirmed itself as the best team of the Pool E and a quarter-finalist of #CLVolleyW.
