Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE - JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel
Head-to-Head
- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE and JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel will face each other in the first all-Polish men's CEV Champions League Super Final.
- This is the second time the Super Final will be played between two teams from the same country, after 2003/04 when Russia's Lokomotiv BELGOROD defeated Iskra ODINTSOVO in straight sets.
- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE have won all four previous Champions League encounters with JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel; 3-1 and 3-0 in the Play-Offs in 2017/18 and 3-0 and 3-2 in last season's Semi-Finals.
- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE have won seven of their eight Champions League matches against Polish opposition, but they lost the most recent clash, 2-3 against Aluron CMC Warta ZAWIERCIE in the return leg in this season's Play-Offs. Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE had won the first leg 3-0.
- JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel lost their last four matches versus Polish opposition (all vs Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE), after they had won their first two encounters with a Polish team, 3-0 and 3-1 against Asseco Resovia RZESZOW in the Play-Offs in 2013/14.
- Defending Polish league champions Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE won both league fixtures against JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel (3-2, 3-1) in the regular stage of this season's Polish PlusLiga. In the play-off stage, both teams have progressed to the final in which they will face each other again in a 'best-of-five' in May. (Note: first game on 3 May 2023).
- These two teams have already contested the final of the Polish Super Cup and Polish Cup in this campaign. JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel won the Super Cup 3-2 (15-13 final set) in October 2022, and Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE lifted the Polish Cup after a straight-sets win in February.

- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE could become the fourth club to win the men's Champions League at least three times, after Zenit KAZAN (6), TRENTINO Itas (3) and Belogorie BELGOROD (3).
- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE can become the third side to win three successive Champions League titles (since 2000/01), following TRENTINO Itas (3) from 2008/09 to 2010/11 (as TRENTINO Volley in 2008/09 and TRENTINO BetClic in 2009/10-2010/11), and Zenit KAZAN from 2014/15 to 2017/18 (4).
- In Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE's last two seasons, they only lost four Champions League matches (2 in each season) on their way to the title. This season they have already lost four (of which three versus TRENTINO Itas).
- Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE have won each of their last nine Champions League knockout ties (including an awarded tie against Dinamo MOSCOW in 2021/22), since a 4-5 aggregate loss against Kuzbass KEMEROVO in the quarter-finals of 2019/20 (last fixtures before the competition was halted due to COVID-19).
- Łukasz Kaczmarek is this season's top scorer in the Champions League on 219 points, the most points by a man in a Champions League season since Aleksandar Atanasijević (271 for Sir Colussi Sicoma PERUGIA) and Maurice Armando Torres (219 for Zaksa KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE) in 2017/18.
- Kacmarek had 23 points in Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE 2-3 Super Cup defeat against JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel this season and 14 points in their Cup final victory.
- Kaczmarek, Adrian Staszewski, Bartlomiej Kluth, Aleksander Sliwka, David Smith and Korneliusz Banach can win the Champions League three years in a row with Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE.
JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel
- JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel have reached the Super Final of the Champions League for the first time. They were among the last four teams in 2010/11 (finished 4th), 2013/14 (3rd) and 2021/22 (eliminated by winners Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE).
- The most recent first-time finalists to win the trophy were Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK in 2012/13 and Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE in 2020/21.
- JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel are the team to have won the most matches in this Champions League season: nine. JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel are also the only Polish club to have won more matches in a Champions League campaign: 10 in 2013/14.
- Stephen Boyer, Benjamin Toniutti and Trévor Clévenot won the gold medal match with France at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games against Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) which was coached by current Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE coach Tuomas Sammelvuo.
- Toniutti won the Champions League with Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE in 2020/21. Boyer and Clévenot could win the Champions League for the first time.
- Boyer is JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel's top scorer in this Champions League on 141 points. Last season, Tomasz Fornal (126) was JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel's top scorer. Fornal has 134 points in this campaign.
- Boyer scored a team-high 23 points in their 3-2 Super Cup win against Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE this season.
- Eemi Tervaportti has a 58.8 percentage as setter in nine appearances in this season's Champions League, the second highest, after Przemyslaw Stepien (59% in four appearances for Grupa Azoty KĘDZIERZYN-KOŹLE).
- As coach of Brazilian team Sada CRUZEIRO, Marcelo Méndez won the FIVB World Club Championship three times and the South American Club Championship on seven occasions.
