1. Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA returns to the court for the most important European competition a few hours after the long trip of over 12 hours to return from Brazil, where the Italian team was defeated by the hosts Sada Cruzeiro in the final of the Men’s Volleyball World Champs.

2. MARIBOR is the second Slovenian team that Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA meets as an opponent in its long and prestigious European road. In the past, the Italian champion team has played on several occasions against ACH Volley BLED - LUBIANA in the CEV Champions League. In 2010 ACH Volley eliminated the Italian team in the quarter-finals with a double win at the tie break.

3. During the competition that has just ended in Brazil, the CIVITANOVA’s coach Gianlorenzo Blengini lined-up the Italian national team star Ivan Zaytsev, finally recovered after a four months stop for a surgery on a knee. For this occasion he also hopes to have Osmany Juantorena available again, as he was out of the court for a month due to a muscle problem.

“The match in Maribor will be very important for us, for confirming the leadership in the Pool C and also to immediately erase the bitterness after World champs final in Brazil. We will do our best as always. A win in Slovenia would get us back on track. We don’t know very much about the opponent team, so it is mandatory to face them with the maximum concentration, and thinking only to what we should do in our court side”.
